At North Shore Chiropractic, based right here in Glenfield, we’re committed to creating a welcoming and informative experience for all our new clients. This guide will help you feel prepared and confident ahead of your first chiropractic visit.
Who We Are & Our Approach
North Shore Chiropractic has been supporting families across Glenfield and the greater North Shore area for over 20 years. Our lead chiropractor, Dr Eleanor Harley (BChiro), believes in supporting the body’s natural function through gentle, evidence-informed care, and values long‑term wellness over quick fixes.
Whether you’re managing posture issues from office work, staying active in local sports, or simply looking to support your everyday movement, we’re here to help you maintain your spinal health and overall wellbeing.
Your First Visit
Your initial appointment is focused on getting to know you: your lifestyle, your health background, and your reasons for seeking chiropractic care. It typically includes:
Assessment & History (~30 mins)
- We begin the consultation by discussing your current concerns and any discomfort or movement issues you may be experiencing. We’ll also take a detailed health history to ensure we understand your overall wellbeing and any relevant medical conditions.
- Based on this information, we’ll assess your posture, flexibility, and general range of motion. This helps us identify patterns that may be contributing to discomfort or tension.
- As part of this process, postural photos may be taken (with your consent). These photos help us visually assess your alignment and track changes over time. They are a useful tool for both you and your chiropractor to understand your unique posture patterns.
Imaging & Clinical Assessment
- Digital spinal X-rays are taken on-site as part of your initial assessment. These images provide detailed insight into the structure of your spine and help inform clinical decisions. This imaging is included in your initial consultation fee and is only performed when clinically appropriate, with your informed consent.
Preparing for Your First Appointment:
- Wear comfortable clothing suitable for movement
- Arrive a few minutes early to complete any forms
- Bring anything relevant like ACC claim numbers or health documentation (if applicable)
- Remove any jewellery while the x-rays are being taken
Do You Get Adjusted on the First Visit?
Your chiropractor will only proceed with care if it’s clinically appropriate, based on your health history and examination results.
At North Shore Chiropractic, our approach is thoughtful, professional, and fully guided by your comfort and informed consent.
Second Appointment
Report of Findings (~30 mins)
At your second visit, we’ll present and explain your findings. We’ll discuss your assessment results, any imaging findings, and offer personalised care recommendations. You’re welcome to bring a friend or family member for support or questions.
Follow-Up Visits
Ongoing Adjustments (10–15 mins)
Once your care plan is established, follow-up visits are short and focused (typically 10–15 minutes). These visits aim to support spinal function and your overall wellbeing in a safe, consistent manner.
