Our Chiropractic Care Services
At North Shore Chiropractic, your first two visits are designed to give us a clear understanding of your health and set the foundation for your chiropractic care.
Your initial visit (30 minutes) begins with a detailed health history so we can fully understand your current state of health and any concerns you may have. This is followed by a thorough chiropractic examination of your spine and nervous system, along with other relevant tests. If clinically necessary, spinal x-rays will be taken on site to give us a clearer picture of what's going on beneath the surface.
Your second visit is the Report of Findings (also 30 minutes), where we'll go through your x-rays and explain what we found. Based on your results, we'll provide tailored recommendations for care moving forward. This is a great time to ask questions, and you're welcome to bring a friend or family member for support.
Following these visits, regular adjusting appointments are quicker and typically take just 10-15 minutes. These sessions are focused, efficient, and designed to keep you aligned and functioning at your best.
The chiropractic services we provide include:
Pregnancy
Chiropractic care during pregnancy can provide numerous benefits by supporting the body's natural ability to adapt to the physical and hormonal changes of gestation. As the baby grows, the mother's posture shifts, and the pelvis and spine can become misaligned, potentially leading to discomfort, back pain, and reduced pelvic balance. Chiropractors trained in prenatal care use gentle, specific techniques-such as the Webster Technique-to help maintain proper pelvic alignment, which may ease labor and delivery by creating optimal space for the baby (1Borggren, 2007). Regular chiropractic care can also reduce common pregnancy symptoms like sciatica, round ligament pain, and joint stress, promoting a more comfortable and balanced pregnancy experience.
Elderly
Chiropractic care offers significant benefits for the elderly by promoting mobility, reducing pain, and supporting overall quality of life. As the body ages, spinal degeneration, joint stiffness, and decreased balance can impact daily functioning and independence. Gentle chiropractic adjustments help improve spinal alignment and joint function, which can enhance posture, coordination, and flexibility. Studies have shown that chiropractic care may also help manage conditions such as arthritis and chronic back pain, common among older adults, leading to reduced reliance on medication and improved well-being (2Weigel et al., 2010). From a holistic perspective, chiropractic care supports the body's natural healing processes, helping seniors maintain vitality and enjoy a more active, fulfilling life.
Athletes
Athletes benefit greatly from chiropractic care as it helps enhance performance, prevent injuries, and speed up recovery. By ensuring proper spinal and joint alignment, chiropractic adjustments support optimal nervous system function and biomechanics, which can improve coordination, flexibility, and overall body efficiency. Regular care can also help address muscle imbalances, relieve tension, and reduce the risk of strains and sprains. Many professional athletes incorporate chiropractic into their training routines to stay in peak condition and recover faster after intense physical activity (3Zemper, 2005). Chiropractic care not only treats injuries but also supports long-term athletic health and performance.
Babies, Children, and Teens
Chiropractic care can be beneficial for babies, young children, and teenagers by supporting proper spinal alignment, which may enhance the function of the nervous system-the body's master control system. From a vitalistic perspective, chiropractic care recognizes the body's innate intelligence, or natural ability to heal and regulate itself when free from interference. Gentle chiropractic adjustments in infants have been associated with relief from issues such as colic, sleep disturbances, and breastfeeding difficulties by helping restore balance in the nervous system (4Miller et al., 2009). For children and teens, chiropractic care not only aids in managing musculoskeletal discomfort and postural concerns, but also supports optimal growth, development, and energy flow, allowing the body to function at its highest potential (5Marchand, 2012). Many parents report improvements in their children's health and behavior following chiropractic care, often attributing it to a rebalancing of the body's innate healing abilities (6Alcantara et al., 2009).
Acute, corrective, wellness
From a vitalistic chiropractic perspective, care is typically approached in three phases: acute, corrective, and wellness. Acute care focuses on addressing immediate symptoms and relieving pain caused by spinal misalignments or subluxations that interfere with the body's innate healing ability. Once symptoms improve, corrective care works to restore proper spinal alignment and posture, aiming to correct the underlying patterns that led to the imbalance in the first place. Finally, wellness care is ongoing and proactive, supporting the nervous system and enhancing the body's natural intelligence to maintain balance, adaptability, and optimal function. Rather than treating disease, this approach honors the body's innate wisdom and seeks to empower long-term health and vitality.
